[ltr]Oil prices fell on Thursday on the back of rising crude stocks in the United States and a rise in US production to a record low, undermining the efforts of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries to reduce supplies, although the possibility of new US sanctions on Iran keep markets in a state of concern.[/ltr]
    [ltr]Brent crude was $ 73.31 a barrel, down 5 cents from the previous close.[/ltr]
    [ltr]US West Texas Intermediate crude futures fell 1 cent to $ 67.92 a barrel.[/ltr]
[ltr]Prices fell on a report from the US Energy Information Administration on Wednesday showing that US oil inventories rose 6.2 million barrels to 435.96 million barrels in the week ending April 27, the highest level in 2018.[/ltr]
[ltr]Oil production in the United States rose to a record 10.62 million bpd, more than a quarter since mid-2016.[/ltr]
[ltr]The United States currently produces oil at a rate higher than Saudi Arabia, OPEC's biggest producer.[/ltr]
[ltr]Russia is pumping only about 11 million barrels a day.[/ltr]
[ltr]The United States may exceed that level very soon, as oil companies increased production from January to May at the fastest pace in at least five years, according to data from Thomson Reuters.[/ltr]
