(Reuters) - Iraq handed over a 20-year-old Iraqi boy suspected of raping and killing a girl in Germany last month, Interior Minister Horst Zehwefer said.
"I am pleased that the accused of the crime and the wanted German authorities have returned to Germany," said Zehover in a statement on Saturday. "It is now possible to investigate the case quickly.
" to our society, it is important to detect crimes and bring suspects to justice. "
the Kurdistan region , police said on Saturday that the suspect confessed to German raping Susannah Feldman {14 years} and killed her in Germany , where the case sparked a debate about immigration.
German police said they found the body of Feldmann Judaism that descends N the city of Mainz , near Frankfurt on Wednesday in a wooded area in Wiesbaden near the refugee center where the suspect resides attacker. An
autopsy showed that she was a victim of sexual assault and violent attack.
Police said there was no evidence her religion was responsible for the incident, and the Central Council of Jews in Germany warned against anticipating the consequences of the crime.
Kurdish security forces took the suspect, who German authorities said was Ali Bashar, to jail last Friday after fleeing Germany last week.
Duhok police chief Major General Tariq Ahmed told Reuters officers in the city of Zakho contacted him and told him they had identified the suspect and would arrest him as soon as he arrived in the city.
He said the suspect was staying at a Duhok hotel but left him after he felt the police were chasing him and went to the house of a relative in Zakho, where he was arrested while sleeping at 5:30 am.
Duhok police chief said the suspect confessed to his crime while being interrogated by Kurdish security authorities.
The German Federal Police declined to comment on the details of the suspect's arrest or on the report on the timing of the extradition.
German Chancellor Angela Merkel expressed concern over the crime and said it should be a reminder to the Germans that it was necessary to do everything possible to integrate immigrants.
"The terrible suffering of the family and the victim affects everyone, including me," she said on the sidelines of the G7 summit in Canada.
"Cooperation in this regard between the German authorities and the Kurdish security authorities was very good here, it is good to catch the culprit who will probably return to Germany."
"This is a reminder to all of us that we must first deal with the issue of integration very seriously and make our common values very clear, but we also have to punish the criminal for any crime, we can not live together unless we abide by our laws," she said.
Merkel's decision to welcome large numbers of asylum seekers in 2015 sparked political outrage as many politicians called for new regulations to facilitate the deportation of migrants.
German media reported that Beshar had been living in Germany as a refugee since 2015. He ended
