    Economy News - Baghdad
The Ministry of Transport announced, on Friday, the reopening of the Baghdad-Samarra railway line after a hiatus that lasted more than 21 years since it was out of service.
The Ministry stated in a statement, seen by Al-Iqtisad News, that “its Minister Muhaibas arrived this morning in the city of Samarra to inaugurate transportation projects,” indicating that “technical personnel have restarted the previous lines of trains or buses, as part of an effort to provide the best services to citizens.” .
The Minister of Transport confirmed, according to the statement, that "his ministry is determined to activate all railway lines in Iraq," noting that "a large portion of those lines were subjected to acts of sabotage during the terrorist aggression against Iraq."
He added, "The Baghdad-Samarra line was restarted today, with a distance of 120 kilometers," noting that "this line provides travelers between the two cities with safe and comfortable transportation."
