    EU: Association Agreement with Iraq entered into force

    The European Union (EU) has announced the full entry into force of the Association Agreement with Iraq and was published in the EU's official newspaper after it was approved by the Council of Ministers of the European Union.
    "This agreement demonstrates the long-term participation of the EU in establishing a legal framework for cooperation between Iraq and the EU in areas that represent common interests, such as democracy, human rights, economic affairs, trade, immigration, security, energy, the environment and many other areas," the EU mission said in a press release. .
    "The agreement will provide mechanisms to strengthen the cooperation relations between the European Union and Iraq and represents another important step in the European Union's extensive efforts to support Iraq," she said, adding that "ratification of the agreement is further evidence of the desire of the European Union to strengthen its relationship with Iraq at this crucial moment, after A daunting defeat last year and in light of the important challenges to the stability and reconstruction of the country's future. "
