The British Embassy in Iraq on Tuesday presented a proposal to form the next government of Iraq and Kurdistan.
"We are encouraged to see that 25 per cent of the women elected to parliament in Baghdad this year have been elected on the basis of their merit, not only from their 25 per cent quota," the embassy said in a statement. .
"To this end, we have encouraged all political groups involved in the formation of the government in Baghdad and Erbil to select qualified candidates to hold high-level positions on new boards and other ministerial posts. In fact, there are many qualified women. Why do not we also target 25% Here?"
"This is something that we have been working hard on in the UK. This process is not quick or easy, but we have benefited greatly from the wide range of talent and commitment when our ministers are selected from all the population, not half of them," she said.
"The head of state and the prime minister are both women, as are leaders of six major political parties in the UK. Studies of countries recovering from conflict clearly show that their chances of recovery and rapid recovery depend to a large extent on the full participation of all women And men in building peace. "
"We know from the Iraqis we meet that Iraqi women and men have a lot to offer to their country, and they want to help improve it, but it is important that those at risk are supported by full participation in society and not intimidation or intimidation," the statement said.
The embassy expressed its support "to all those who work to ensure that women and men have the opportunity to provide their services and develop their talents fully."
