Iranian navy announces release of British oil tanker

TEHRAN (Reuters) - British oil tanker Stena Impero will be released soon and will leave the port of Bandar Abbas for international waters, the head of Iran's Maritime Organization said on Sunday.
"Although the legal and legal stages of Stina Impero's exit from Iranian waters are underway, the judicial file on tanker violations is still open," the Iranian official said.
He added that the authorities of his country were following "the final trial proceedings for violations of the rules of maritime navigation by legal means, and we will announce the judicial verdict upon its issuance."
The Swedish company, the owner of the British tanker detained, announced earlier in the day that it was informed of the possibility of releasing the tanker on Sunday.
Iranian authorities had seized the tanker "Stina Impero", which was sailing under the British flag, in the waters of the Strait of Hormuz, saying that the tanker "violated international shipping laws."
