(Baghdad: Al Furat News) US officials said that a man accused of killing two police officers while he was leading an Al Qaeda-linked group in Fallujah was arrested in Phoenix, Arizona.
A statement by the Arizona judicial authorities stated that Ali Yusef Ahmed al-Nuri, 42, was wanted in Iraq on charges of intentionally killing the two police officers in 2006.
The statement indicated that an Iraqi judge issued an arrest warrant for Al-Nouri, and that the Iraqi government sent the US Ministry of Justice a request for his extradition.
The Department of Justice sought an arrest warrant for al-Nouri and the man was transferred to a detention center in Phoenix on Thursday.
The statement added that al-Nuri appeared before a federal judge in Phoenix on Friday as part of procedures for his extradition to Iraq. is over
