The local government in Al-Muthanna Governorate announced that 9 oil wells drilled by the Russian Lukoil Company in the tenth oil block joint with Dhi Qar
.
Deputy Governor for Energy Affairs Hamid Al-Hasani said, "8 wells in Block 10 are located within the borders of Muthanna Governorate, while one well has been drilled so far within the boundaries of Dhi Qar Governorate
."
And that "the Russian investing company informed the Ministry of Oil and the local government that the oil reserves in that area are estimated at 8 billion barrel
."
Al-Hassani added that "the extraction stage, which is considered complementary to the exploration and drilling phases, needs more time and the completion of the reservoir project for refining and pumping oil to the strategic lines
