    The Ministry of Trade announced, on Monday (March 29, 2021), a set of measures to limit the rise in prices in the local market, indicating that this came in conjunction with the distribution of food items for the month of Ramadan.
    In a statement received by  IQNEWS , the ministry said, “The supervisory teams of the Financial and Commercial Supervision Department in the ministry, in coordination with the Organized Crime Department at the Ministry of Interior, made visits to markets and shops in Baghdad and all governorates to check local market prices and follow up on the validity of foodstuffs in those markets. ".
    She added that "seizures of expired materials have been referred to the judiciary according to seizure notes, as well as following up on those violating local market prices and referring them to the judiciary."
    The ministry indicated that "the financial and commercial control teams deployed in the local market in coordination with organized crime began a few days ago, rounds in the local markets to monitor market prices and put an end to cases of manipulation that are taking place to raise the prices of foodstuffs that the Iraqi citizen needs, especially in light of the preparations for the month of Ramadan." 
    She pointed out that her minister directed the supervisory bodies in the ministry to follow up the local market continuously and in times of the day and evening to identify manipulators in the local market and increase prices, as well as check foodstuffs in the market and their suitability for human consumption, as well as scrutinize the items prohibited to be imported by decisions of the Council of Ministers. To preserve the national product. "
    The ministry added that "commercial control agencies have monitored and seized quantities of expired foodstuffs in Mosul, Salah al-Din, Baghdad and other governorates in Hassan. These teams, in coordination with the Organized Crime Department, National Security, continue to organize tours at multiple times to lay hands on violations." Supervision in the Ministry of Trade took the hand on numerous violations in coordination with the Organized Crime Department in the Ministry of Interior, and many cases were referred to the judiciary according to seizure notes.
