Baghdad Chamber of Commerce member Maytham Al-Bolani responded today, Saturday, to the statements of the Minister of Agriculture, Muhammad Al-Khafaji, considering that these statements are “baseless and unfounded.
Al-Bolani said in a statement to “Khabar Press”, “The Minister of Agriculture claimed that bird flu is spreading in the countries of Turkey and Brazil, and this statement is incorrect because the epidemiological bulletin is issued by the World Animal Health Organization, which is the only body authorized to declare animal diseases in Iraq and the world according to the animal health law. No. 32 of 2013 and that this organization has not issued any publication about it until now, and we know that the purpose of these statements is to deliver unreal information to the Council of Ministers and for purposes that have become exposed to all. On the contrary, the spread of disease in Iraq with great force and there are thousands of deaths of chickens knowing that these Damages will be compensated by the Ministry of Agriculture according to the Iraqi Animal Health Law.
He pointed out that “the minister spoke about the presence of expired Brazilian chicken coming from Europe, and this is incorrect because every shipment coming from Brazil is accompanied by an electronic health certificate that is not subject to fraud, and that the imported chicken from Brazil is exclusive to the slaughterhouses registered in the Iraqi Veterinary Department, which is about 30 registered slaughterhouses have official registration certificates, with the knowledge that no commodity can be exported from Europe to Islamic countries as it is not slaughtered according to Islamic law.
He explained that “the minister spoke about 6000 fields, and I confirm that most of these fields are fake fields only on paper. They were implemented on the agricultural initiative only. They seized loans without any real projects, and that most of these fields that the minister talks about are not renewed to authorize the project.” These projects have not worked for the past two years, especially since the import ban is in the month of 10 of 2019, and what has emerged and what these fields have worked now?

Remember, but what has been achieved is the entry of quantities of smuggled chickens into the market, the cause of a drop in prices and a waste of money obtained from fees, customs and taxes.
Al-Bolani said that the Minister of Agriculture took care of setting a price for chicken and meat, but it was quick. I gave it up. This is incorrect and the minister cannot provide one dollar. The reason is that the average price of imported chicken is 1000 dollars, that is. We will spend 700 million dollars for 700 thousand tons, and if we want to produce this quantity in Iraq, we will spend 1400 billion dollars to import feed, veterinary medicines and vaccines. I am ready to meet all the experts in feasibility studies in the world and Iraq and to clarify these numbers accurately and in detail. The minister said that the ministry is leading the country to famine and the loss of food security.
