On Wednesday, the Parliament’s Integrity Committee warned the government against violating the budget law by disbursing funds to the Kurdistan region retroactively.
And the committee stated in a statement, June 16, that “a decision was issued by the Council of Ministers, as was reported, to release an amount of 200 billion per month to the regional government and with a retroactive effect, contrary to Article 11 of the budget law for the year 2021.”
The committee warned the Ministry of Finance and the Central Bank against “taking this step in violation of the budget law or the financial management law,” calling on the public prosecutor to “take the necessary action in the event that these funds are released in violation of the law.”
It also called on the Council of Ministers to "be careful in issuing decisions and to indicate the extent to which they comply with the laws in force and not to comply with any laws that contravene them."
