The Ministry of Commerce announced, on Wednesday, that the Iraqi Exhibitions Company is holding a meeting with representatives of the ministries, government institutions and relevant security agencies, to discuss the mechanism of controls for granting import licenses for chemical materials.
A statement by the company, which Mawazine News received a copy of, stated that "at the headquarters of the General Company for Iraqi Exhibitions and Commercial Services, a meeting was held with the director of the import department in the company, which included representatives of the relevant security services and representatives of the ministries of health, environment, agriculture, planning, as well as the Border Ports Authority and the Authority The National Control and Industrial Development and the Iraqi Chemical Syndicate to discuss updating and amending the mechanism and controls for issuing import licenses for chemical, dual and dangerous materials and following up on the end user.
The company's general manager, Sarmad Taha Saeed, said, "The purpose of this meeting is to stand on the opinions and observations presented by representatives of those ministries and security services, and the problems and obstacles they encounter in implementing the instructions received from the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers."
He noted that "the Ministry of Commerce represented by the Iraqi Exhibitions Company, in cooperation with all sectoral and security agencies, and under the direct supervision of the National Security Advisory, prepared this mechanism as it is the coordinating body for this file."
He explained, "The meeting also dealt with the observations made by the General Company for Exhibitions and Commercial Services regarding each ministry and the consequent granting of fundamental approvals for the import of chemical materials, and the role of the security services in auditing the security restrictions of companies importing chemical substances."
