    Government Media Cell: The attacks on the national electricity network resulted in the death of seven, the injury of eleven others, and the sabotage of (61) main lines..and its staff restored the work of the system at a rate of (16) thousand megawatts
    The Government Media Cell announces that a package of urgent measures has been taken with a double government effort, based on the directives of the Prime Minister, during his presidency of the crisis cell meeting this evening, where His Excellency directed all government agencies to provide all facilities for urgent solutions to the problems that the national electricity network suffers from. And work to provide the necessary protection for electric power towers from repeated attacks.
    The main lines of electrical power transmission have been subjected to systematic terrorist attacks during the past ten days, in conjunction with rising temperatures. These attacks, which were carried out by launching missiles, planting explosive devices, and using sniper weapons to target power wires, resulted in the death of seven and the injury of eleven other engineering and technical personnel. And the destruction of (61) main lines, the last of which targeted the transport lines between Erbil and Makhmour a while ago, which contributed to the lack of electrical power supply throughout the country, as well as the occurrence of cases of abuses on the national network and stations in the southern regions.
    During the same period, the Ministry of Electricity was also subjected to media attacks by some media and social networking sites, by publishing statements attributed to the ministry, aimed at confusing public opinion, which encouraged the weak-minded to bypass a number of stations across the governorates, which caused an exacerbation of the situation. The electricity supply crisis, in addition to the promotion on social media of photos and videos dating back to previous years, the purpose of which is to raise the level of criticism and attacks against the ministry.
    The engineering and technical staff of the Ministry continue to mobilize the utmost efforts through continuous work throughout the day, to repair the networks that have been sabotaged in all cities, and during the continuous work it was able to reach the production of (16000) megawatts of energy for the purpose of preparing the statement.
    The cell calls upon the media, civil society organizations and all citizens to cooperate with the ministry's cadres, to repair the networks that have been subjected to sabotage and to lift the abuses that would double the effort on the main and sub-stations.
