The Council of Ministers of the Kurdistan Region discussed, on Wednesday, equipping the Peshmerga with the necessary needs to combat “ISIS terrorists,” stressing that every effort is being made to support the Peshmerga and protect the residents of Kurdistan regions facing terrorist threats, at a time when it approved a new education bill.
And the media of the Kurdistan Regional Council of Ministers said in a statement that Mawazine News received a copy of it, that the Council held its regular session today, headed by Masrour Barzani and in the presence of the Deputy Speaker of the Council, Qubad Talabani.
The Council of Ministers discussed the terrorist attacks committed by ISIS terrorists in the Kurdish areas outside the administration of the region, which claimed martyrs and wounded among the heroes of the Peshmerga and the citizens.
On behalf of the Council of Ministers, the Prime Minister expressed his condolences to the families of the martyrs, expressing his hope for a speedy recovery to the wounded. The Prime Minister also indicated that there is constant communication with the federal government to expand opportunities for cooperation and coordination to fill the existing security gaps in the cut-off Kurdistan regions, in addition to providing the Peshmerga with the necessary needs to combat ISIS terrorists.
The Prime Minister reiterated that we will do our utmost to support the Peshmerga and protect the steadfast people in those areas facing the threats of ISIS terrorists, which is part of the policy of continuing demographic change in those areas and forcing their residents to evacuate their homes.
In the first part of the meeting, Minister of Education Alan Hama Saeed presented a draft law (Education in the Kurdistan Region), and after discussions and deliberations, the Council of Ministers approved the draft law, which aims to organize all sectors of education on modern foundations and continue to strengthen the educational process in order to establish a system A new educator in Kurdistan. The draft law is broad and comprehensive, and includes the entire educational process in both the public and private sectors.
After that, Minister of Electricity Kamal Muhammad submitted a draft law (the first amendment to the Ministry of Electricity Law No. 6 of 2021), with the aim of strengthening the organizational structure of the ministry. The Council of Ministers approved the bill and decided to refer the two bills to the Kurdistan Parliament.
Then the Minister of Agriculture and Water Resources, Baker Talabani, presented a report on drought and the risks facing agricultural crops in the Kurdistan region, which resulted in an increase in the prices of chemical fertilizers and pesticides and their impact on the cultivation of wheat and barley crops, the reality of animals, poultry fields and fisheries, as well as an increase in feed prices. The report pointed to the importance of water resources, dams, irrigation projects, rationalizing water consumption and maintaining rates of use through educating citizens, in addition to many proposed facilities for farmers and animal breeders in the region. The Council of Ministers instructed the concerned ministers to provide facilities and work on this within the framework of the law.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the Minister of Culture Hama Hama Saeed and Head of the Information and Information Department Jotiar Adel presented a number of observations, proposals, directions and instructions related to the media and social media’s interaction with the current situation on the battlefronts against ISIS terrorists, making it a responsible media, and playing a role in protecting National security and preserving the safety and lives of the Peshmerga heroes, and not having a negative impact on anti-terrorist plans and defensive lines.
