"Oil destroyed us"... The first Iraqi farmer to resort to renewable energy in Samawa

Shafaq News/ Renewable energy produced through inexhaustible natural resources such as wind, water and sunlight is one of the most important things that Iraq seeks to enter its field strongly and expand the process of its use, taking advantage of solar activity on its land.
Recently, Al-Muthanna Governorate witnessed a farmer in Samawa (the center of Al-Muthanna Governorate in southern Iraq), using renewable energy from solar cells, as a first gesture in the history of the governorate to abandon black oil, which is “destroying agricultural machinery,” they said.
Oil destroyed us and decimated our budget.
The farmer, Sajit Al-Saadi, told Shafaq News Agency, "The idea of relying on solar panels instead of electric energy generated from black oil, was initially launched by relying on 20 horsepower of them, and then soon developed it to reach 60 horsepower to be in the current form it is." Pointing out that "resorting to this environmentally friendly energy is for several reasons, including extensive talk about it and its benefits in the media, and that it is financially inexpensive, because black oil has destroyed us psychologically and decimated our financial budgets because of the high cost of its material."
He added, "Solar energy generates free electricity for us throughout the day in the event of the presence of sunlight," explaining that "the solar panels need an appropriate infrastructure for their work, and attention to their cleanliness, especially not to allow dust to accumulate on them, because it will weaken the energy generated by them."
Al-Saadi noted that after using solar energy, he no longer suffers from engine failures and other technical matters that depend on black oil, since energy is available throughout the day.

Government encouragement.
In turn, the Muthanna Agriculture Directorate spoke about the governorate's farmers using alternative energy for energy generated from fuel to operate the stations, calling on all farmers to resort to it.
The Undersecretary of the Agricultural Extension Department in the governorate, Hassan Hussein, told Shafaq News Agency, "The urgent need to generate electric power in modern ways, made researchers in Muthanna deliberately use wind and solar energy instead of using fuel to operate agricultural pumps and submersibles to draw water and irrigate crops."
And he indicated that "a farmer in Al-Muthanna Governorate, for the first time in Samawah, resorted to using solar panels to generate electric power."
He added, "The Directorate of Agriculture has invited all Muthanna's farmers to turn to alternative energy, as it is clean and environmentally friendly energy and has a great return in the supply of electrical energy," stressing that "the Ministry of Agriculture worked during the past period to equip the General Company for Agricultural Supplies with these alternative energy systems, in order to It is easy for the farmer and the farmer to obtain it.”

Call for support to give farmers "loans"
In addition, the head of the Union of Farmers' Associations in Muthanna, Awad Al-Atshan, explains that solar energy is important for farmers, as it contributes to ridding them of the costs of diesel and engines that constantly harm the farmer as a result of the malfunctions that afflict them.

On the twenty-seventh of November 2021, the Central Bank of Iraq announced the allocation of funds to finance the purchase of renewable energy generation units.
The bank said in a brief statement received at the time to Shafak News Agency, that it will enhance the liquidity of banks, which in turn will grant soft loans to citizens and projects to acquire renewable energy generating units according to high specifications and with long sustainability.
