Today, Monday, the Parliamentary Energy Committee submitted a proposal to provide electricity to citizens through renewable energy, while noting that what was contracted regarding renewable energy is sufficient to operate 8 hours during the day.
Committee Chairman Khaled Al-Daraji said, "Iraq's plan on renewable energy includes contracting 7,500 megawatts to add solar energy, but what has been contracted so far is about 4 thousand megawatts, which is sufficient to operate approximately 8 hours of electrical energy during the day."
Al-Darraji called "to give loans to citizens for the purpose of installing personal systems on solar energy, especially as it provides electrical energy, in addition to the possibility of installing it in agricultural areas that are difficult to deliver electricity to," stressing the need to "provide facilities for companies to invest in this field, as well as the issue of Financial guarantee and land acquisition, especially since the Ministry of Electricity has suffered from this issue, and the state must solve it."
He pointed out that "work is underway to complete the combined cycle of the gas stations, as work in the stations is now in the simple cycle, which is the simple cycle and its efficiency does not exceed 30 percent, while installing the combined cycle will reach the efficiency of the station to more than 50 percent because it produces electricity without fuel."
He pointed out that "the Parliamentary Energy Committee has begun to form a subcommittee to follow up the ministry's plan, as well as another plan to follow up the issue of land acquisition and renewable energy, in addition to a committee to follow up on stopped stations and address their problems," explaining that "an upcoming meeting will be held in the coming days for the subcommittees in order to put A plan to support and advance the ministry.
