    Economy News _ Baghdad
The Minister of Environment, Jassem Al-Falahi, announced the launch of the national initiative to support energy and reduce emissions.
Al-Falahi said during a press conference, according to the official news agency, that "Iraq is the country most affected by climate change, according to United Nations reports."
He added, "We obtained approvals from the higher authorities represented by the Prime Minister to form the initiative and form teams," noting that "the initiative works to manage energy consumption in a regular and effective manner, rationalize energy consumption, encourage the use of renewable energy applications in all sectors, and encourage the private sector to participate in Transition projects to a sustainable green economy.
He pointed out that "Iraq possesses various sources that are an alternative to oil," noting that "there is a global trend to dispense with oil through the electric-powered automobile industry, and we must not burden the state more than its capacity."
He explained, "There will be a tendency, after obtaining the approval of the Prime Minister, that all ministries and state institutions will be able to benefit from renewable energy during the coming period."
