Today, Wednesday, the Iraqi parliament revealed the first action against the Iranian ambassador to Baghdad regarding the missile attack on the city of Erbil in the Kurdistan region of Iraq.

The first deputy speaker of the Iraqi parliament, Hakim al-Zamili, said that "the parliament will host the Iranian ambassador in Baghdad, and the Minister of Interior of the Kurdistan Region, regarding the missile attack on Erbil."

Al-Zamili added, "The House of Representatives will have a position on the missile bombing of Erbil, and that it will host the Iranian ambassador in Iraq to see more on the ground to come up with a real outcome through the people's representatives."

He continued, "The session will be tomorrow or after in the House of Representatives, in the presence of the heads of blocs and representatives," adding: "The fact-finding committee will discuss the issue to come up with a detailed report, and that no information can be given before coming out with a report."

Al-Zamili stressed, "Any breach is unacceptable and a violation of Iraq's sovereignty is not allowed," noting that "the fact-finding committee visited the Kurdistan region and collected some data."

He pointed out, "If there is information confirming the presence of Israelis or others, it is done through the exchange of information, and we have understandings and treaties with Iran and Turkey, in addition to the presence of a quadripartite alliance that includes Iraq, Iran, Syria and Russia to exchange information."

Last Sunday dawn, Erbil was attacked with 12 ballistic missiles fired from outside the country from the east, and targeted a neighborhood near the American Consulate, causing material damage to a number of buildings, without causing casualties.

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard announced that it targeted what it said was "the strategic center of Zionist conspiracy and malicious acts with precision missiles," adding that "the bombing of Erbil came against the background of the recent crimes of the fake Zionist entity and the previous announcement that the crimes and malicious acts of this entity will not go unanswered."

On the other hand, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh said last Monday that Tehran had warned the Iraqi authorities several times that its territory should not be used by third parties to launch attacks on Iran.

The attack was met with wide Arab and international condemnations, preceded by condemnations from officials and politicians in Iraq, while Baghdad summoned the Iranian ambassador to it and informed him of its official protest against the targeting of Erbil with missiles.
