The leader of the State of Law coalition, Nuri al-Maliki, confirmed, on Tuesday, that the parliament session scheduled to be held tomorrow, Wednesday, to elect the President of the Republic will fail.
Al-Maliki said in a statement during a meeting with the new Italian ambassador to Iraq, Maurizio Cricante, that "the parliament session on Wednesday will not differ from last Saturday's session, because preventing an authentic component of the Iraqi people from their entitlements will harm the national balance process, and expose the political process to great risks."
Al-Maliki added, "The framework forces and its allies are still committed to dialogue, and are calling for an end to the political impasse in order to expedite the formation of a strong and harmonious government that meets the aspirations of all Iraqis."
The Iraqi parliament postponed the voting session on the President of the Republic, which was held on March 26, until tomorrow, Wednesday, after the "Save the Homeland" coalition failed to achieve a quorum of 220 out of 329 deputies, according to the decision of the Federal Supreme Court.

The tripartite alliance, "Save a Homeland", seeks to obtain the votes of 18 deputies to achieve a quorum for the presidential election session.
The coalition resumed its movement towards the forces and representatives who chose neutrality or joined the coordination framework row in last Saturday's session, most notably the "Sunrise Kanon", 6 parliamentary seats, and the "Azm" coalition, which has 12 deputies, in addition to the Kurdistan Islamic Union with 4 seats, as well as deputies other independents.
