Today, Wednesday, the Presidency of the House of Representatives decided to postpone the session to elect the President of the Republic until two o’clock in the afternoon, after it was scheduled to be held at 12 noon, due to the lack of attendance of the representatives.
A parliamentary source told Al-Nabaa news agency, "The House of Representatives has not yet held its session, despite the passage of more than an hour and a text on its date."
And the news agency's correspondent from inside the parliament stated that "the number of deputies present in the parliament building did not exceed 185."
And the Media Department of the House of Representatives reported that it was decided to postpone the session until 2 pm due to the lack of attendance.
The department said, in a statement, that "due to the lack of attendance, the session was postponed to 2:00 in the afternoon."
Today's session witnessed the departure of a number of members of the Triple Alliance from the parliament headquarters.
Today, Wednesday, an informed source said that a number of members of the Triple Alliance withdrew from the parliament headquarters.
Today, Wednesday, a number of Sadrist bloc deputies arrived at the parliament headquarters to attend the presidential election session.
A picture showed a number of Sadrist bloc deputies flocking to the Iraqi parliament's headquarters, wearing shrouds and raising the Iraqi flag.
The source said, "A number of members of the Triple Alliance withdrew from the parliament headquarters after they were sure that the session had not been held, and they are the Alliance of Sovereignty and the Kurdistan Democratic Party."
The Turkmen deputies also announced today, Wednesday, that they would not attend the parliament session today, stressing that the current presidential candidate will not meet the aspirations of the Turkmen component and will not do justice to their rights.
In turn, the Rapporteur of the Iraqi Parliament, Gharib Askar Al-Turkmani, confirmed that the coordinating framework will not attend today's session if understandings and agreements are not reached in the interest of the people.
On the other hand, more boycotters of the presidential election session flocked to the headquarters of the Al-Fateh Alliance in Baghdad.
The boycotters are gathering for today's session, dedicated to electing the president of the republic, at the headquarters of the Badr Fatah Alliance in Baghdad, led by Hadi al-Amiri, a member of the Shiite framework. Pictures and video clips showed the leaders and members of the coordination framework arriving at the coalition headquarters.
It is noteworthy that the Shiite framework, the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, the Azm, the New Generation and independent deputies announced their boycott of today's session.
