US Assistant Secretary of Defense for the Middle East, Dana Stroul, admitted that the United States will maintain its military presence in Iraq and Syria under the pretext of providing support for what she called "partners" in the fight against ISIS.

And the website of the US Department of Defense quoted in a report translated by the agency "Information", as saying that "the review of the global position of the Department of Defense emphasized in particular that the United States will maintain its presence in Iraq and Syria to support the efforts of its partners to ensure the permanent defeat of ISIS." As she put it.
She added that "the Biden administration's approach to Syria is based on several basic priorities: expanding what it called "humanitarian access throughout Syria", maintaining our military presence in the country and sustaining the partnership of our local partners, including (the so-called) forces Democratic Syria".
And she added, "The United States will not lift or waive the sanctions imposed on Syria," noting, "We do not support the reconstruction of Syria until there is irreversible progress towards a political solution," she said.
"We continue to affirm in every political and strategic document our commitment to maintaining the presence of US forces in Iraq and Syria," she said.
She pointed out that "the Middle East is a major theater of competition with China, and it is not an axis, but rather the way the Ministry of Defense thinks of China as a competitor in the region." finished/ 25 z
