Karim said, "We presented an ambitious plan to the Council of Ministers for four years," stressing that "if gas is available, next summer will be better than the previous one."
He added, "Last year, the electricity supply was better than the previous year," noting that "now we have 21,000 megawatts, after it was 3,500 megawatts before 2003."
He pointed out that "electricity is a chronic problem," explaining that "huge money was spent in previous years to establish large stations and others to purchase electricity and gas."
He continued, "We plan to reach more than 21,000 megawatts during the next summer," calling on citizens to rationalize energy consumption.
And he stated, "We did not hand over any sums of money to the Iranian side during 2020," stressing that "Iran was asking Iraq one billion and 70 million dollars during the year 2020."
He pointed out that "sanctions on Iran are preventing direct payments," adding: "Were it not for the Prime Minister's follow-up on the electricity file, the energy situation would have been worse."
He explained, "The sums allocated to electricity are two trillion dinars, and we got only 200 billion."
He pointed out that "90 percent of the energy supplied to citizens is subsidized by the government," noting, "We are not in the process of raising the collection of electric energy."
Karim stressed: "We have one million housing units that exceed electric energy." Ended 29 / p. 87
