    Information / Baghdad...
Legal expert Ali Al-Tamimi confirmed that Ankara has violated international law with its attacks on Iraq, pointing out that the Iraqi parliament can compel the government to respond to those attacks.
Al-Tamimi told Al-Maalouma, "The Turkish attacks on Iraq violate Articles 1, 2 and 3 of the Charter of the United Nations, which obligate all countries to respect the sovereignty of other countries."
He added that "Turkey cannot invoke the agreement with the previous regime because this agreement was not renewed after 2003 and a copy of it was not deposited at the United Nations in accordance with Article 102 of the Charter."
And he indicated that "Iraq can file a complaint against Turkey, according to what we mentioned, and Turkey cannot invoke Article 51 of the Charter, which allows the right of legitimate defense, but with conditions, the first of which is to inform the Security Council first and foremost."
He pointed out that "Turkey must solve the problem with the PKK and Ocalan's party leader away from the land of Iraq, as the repetition of these strikes is a disregard for international law and the Charter of the United Nations."
He explained that "the Iraqi parliament has the authority to oblige the government to act with the Turkish side and file a complaint against it after the repeated attacks on Iraqi territory." finished 25
