Shafaq News / Legal specialists and human rights activists revealed that the Sadrist sit-ins in front of the headquarters of the Supreme Judicial Council did not violate the laws despite "not studying the consequences of this step", and while they referred to legal articles that violate the council's "disruption" of its work, they stressed that the legal consequences are against the followers of Al-Sadr does not go beyond "exaggeration and exaggeration."

The legal expert, Amir Al-Daami, confirms to Shafaq News Agency, "The Supreme Judicial Council Law of 2017 does not stipulate in the terms of the powers of the President of the Council to suspend the work of the Supreme Judicial Council for any reason, and therefore it is not within the authority of the President of the Judicial Council to suspend or disrupt the work of Iraqi courts, but rather On the contrary, Article 330 of the Iraqi Penal Code No. 111 of 1969 states that “Any public servant or person charged with a public service who unjustly refrains from performing one of his duties or willfully breaches his duties shall be punished by imprisonment.”
Al-Daami adds, “Also, Article 331 of the same law stipulates that every employee or person charged with a public service who intentionally commits something that violates his duties or refrains from performing his work with the intent of harming the interest of an individual or with the intent of personal benefit at the expense of the state shall be punished by imprisonment or a fine.”
The head of the Supreme Judicial Council, Faiq Zeidan, had directed the suspension of the work of the Iraqi courts as an official response to the demonstration of Sadr's supporters in front of the judicial authority building.
Al-Daami points out that “it is not within the power of the judiciary to issue judicial orders to arrest protesters or sit-ins, because the Iraqi constitution guarantees the right to demonstrate,” noting that “the demonstrations of Sadr’s supporters in front of the Judicial Council did not cause their leader any legal impasse or consequences, because the demonstrators did not cross the building. Or they stormed the courtyard of the building or crossed its gates besides that they were peaceful and did not carry weapons, in addition to raising banners bearing their demands.
