Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa al-Sudani considered, on Wednesday, that the independence of the judiciary is a cornerstone for achieving any reform.

Al-Sudani's office said in a statement, that the latter "received, today, Wednesday, the President of the Federal Supreme Court, Judge Jassim Muhammad Aboud, who congratulated the Prime Minister on the occasion of assuming his duties, and also praised the government's commitment to the legal frameworks and decisions of the Federal Supreme Court."

During the meeting, Al-Sudani stressed the "importance of signing the law under various circumstances," and stressed that "the independence of the judiciary is a cornerstone for achieving any reform."

For his part, the President of the Federal Court emphasized "support for the democratic system and the supremacy of the constitution and its ruling authority for political action, as it is the main guarantor of the implementation of the will of the Iraqi people."
