    Shafaq News/ The activities of the New Year's festival, which is being held by the non-profit "in Slemani" project, have started in Sulaymaniyah, Kurdistan Region, with artistic and service activities, from last Sunday night until the last night of the current year, amid multiple wishes of the celebrants.



    Shafaq News agency reporter toured "Salem Street", one of the most famous streets in the city of Sulaymaniyah, which usually embraces the city's residents and tourists on holidays and events, and also surveyed the opinions of some citizens.
    A different celebration than before
    Citizen Sirwan Muhammad said in his interview with Shafaq News Agency, that the manifestations of the popular celebration began in Sulaymaniyah in a clear and different way from previous years, despite the government's lack of preparation for it.
    "The Iraqi people in general, and the citizens of Kurdistan in particular, need joy and celebration, because we are looking for a glimmer of hope to enter the New Year with optimism and love," he added.
    Put worries aside
    As for Zain Al-Shibli, a resident of Karbala, he told Shafaq News agency, "The people are waiting for such occasions to get rid of their worries, and we, as citizens of the Middle Euphrates, come to Sulaymaniyah, Erbil and Dohuk to relieve our concerns in our regions that lack the most basic necessities of a decent life, but what we see here in Kurdistan is a source of pride and concern.” For part of the country to be in this form of development and civilizational growth.
    Al-Shibli called on the politicians of Iraq to "follow the example of the region's politicians and take care of their regions and make their people happy."

    The management of the "in Slemani" project said, in a statement received by Shafaq News agency, that the New Year's festival started on Sunday night in a different atmosphere, especially to celebrate the advent of the new year with the rest of the world, with the aim of making the people of Sulaymaniyah go with hope towards the new year.
    She added that the festival, which was launched on the occasion of the new year, included decorating Salem Street and a number of other places on King Mahmoud Al-Houli Street and on the bridges of the city, in addition to organizing concerts on the 30th. And 31st nights with the participation of many great artists, Kurdish dance bands and musical groups, as well as organizing a food festival. And other materials, during which more than 60 local businessmen and 40 restaurant owners present their materials and food to the participants.
    The festival will also include street games, such as football, lottery games, archery, strength tests, circus, fireworks, and many other games that will be organized during the festival.
    There will also be activities for children, such as balloons, face painting and other games, as well as gifts from Santa Claus, Spiderman and Batman.
    The project management called on the people of the city of Sulaymaniyah and the rest of the regions of Kurdistan to participate in this great festival and celebrate the last hours of this year with joy and pleasure.
