    Economy News - Baghdad
On Friday, the Minister of Health, Saleh Al-Hasnawi, revealed new privileges for those covered by the health insurance law related to the fees for reviews and operations in the private sector.
Al-Hasnawi said, "The main objective of the health insurance law is to protect groups who are unable to pay the value of health services, which we call a catastrophic payment, and to enable them to use what they spend on health in providing other basic requirements and services such as food, drink, clothing, and housing."
He added, "The Health Insurance Authority will adopt the payment of a significant part of the treatment costs in the private sector for those covered, as it will, according to the law, pay 50% of the costs of clinics, laboratories, x-rays and analyzes, and 75% of the operating fees."
He explained, "Those covered by social care and those who will be included in this law in its first phase will be almost 98% exempted from the costs of health services," according to the official news agency.
And he continued, "The number of those registered in the law reached, until yesterday, Thursday, about (30) thousand people, since the start of registration at the beginning of this month," pointing out that "the ministry is awaiting the Federal Court's decision regarding the lawsuit against the law, which it has not yet responded to."
He stressed that "the Ministry of Health is proceeding with all administrative, logistical and technical procedures, and is on its way to invite companies that will undertake the process of automating the full information related to health insurance, which includes not only services, but also includes registering the names of auditors and their families and giving them an identity or health insurance bag, as well as work." With the fingerprint system and distinguishing the auditors from others, the digital window will also be provided to service providers such as hospitals and doctors, as well as in pharmacies, and it is a complete automation system project, and invitations to companies will be initiated.
He pointed out that "in the event that the Federal Court approves the law and the lawsuit against it is dismissed, the provision of health services to the insured will start in the seventh month of this year."
