On Monday, government spokesman Basem Al-Awadi announced the imminent launch of new decisions to "achieve balance in the exchange market."
Al-Awadi said, in a statement, that "the general budget for the year 2023 is complete and present, but the issue of fluctuation in the exchange rate of the dollar caused a delay in its approval," noting that "changing the exchange rate is in the service of the Iraqi citizen."
Al-Awadi added, "Prime Minister Muhammad Shia'a al-Sudani directed the Ministry of Finance and other relevant ministries to form the budget structure and return figures on the basis of the modern exchange rate during a specific period of time."
Al-Awadi explained, “The budget will be ready to be presented to the Council of Ministers and sent to Parliament, after the Ministry of Finance has finished fixing the new price figures,” pointing out that “the current year’s budget, for the first time, will be harnessed to implement the government program, whether the service or the private sector and all What the ministerial program pledged to do.
