On Monday, March 6, 2023, Prime Minister Muhammad Shia' al-Sudani discussed several files with a delegation from the World Bank, including banking reform and financial cooperation to support social protection and the transportation sector.
The meeting that brought Al-Sudani together with the regional director of the bank, during which "emphasis was placed on cooperation in the field of banking reform adopted by the government, and areas of enhancing progress in addressing service priorities and reform pursued by the government program."
Finance Minister Taif Sami spoke two weeks ago with a delegation from the World Bank about "Iraq's aspiration to support the implementation of the structural reform programs adopted by the new Iraqi government."
The meeting between the prime minister and the World Bank delegation touched on "opportunities for financial cooperation in supporting social protection programmes," which, according to the statement, witnessed a "comprehensive expansion," as well as "areas of supporting the transport sector in Iraq, and government plans to expand its infrastructure."
