The Ministry of Construction, Housing and Public Municipalities announced, on Tuesday, that the total number of housing units projects implemented or currently under implementation and preparation do not meet more than a quarter of the country's actual needs until the year 2030.
The Director General of the Ministry's Housing Department, Sadiq Muhammad al-Fartousi, said in a statement to "Al-Sabah" newspaper, seen by "Al-Iqtisad", that "the data and statistics prepared by his ministry and the competent authorities confirm the country's need for three million housing units up to the year 2030 in order to address the suffocating housing crisis in it." ".
He added, "On the other hand, the statistics indicate that the total housing units projects implemented or under implementation and preparation in the country exceed 850,000, meaning that they will contribute to filling the need for the year 2030."
The country suffers from a suffocating housing crisis, especially in Baghdad, which raised the prices of real estate and rents to ridiculous amounts during the past period
