On Thursday, Minister of Trade Atheer Al-Ghurairi affirmed Iraq's keenness to open new horizons for economic and trade cooperation and develop intra-trade with Saudi Arabia, while inviting Saudi Arabia to "actively participate" in the upcoming Baghdad International Fair.
The Ministry of Commerce said in a statement, "The Minister of Commerce, Atheer Al-Ghurairy, met his counterpart, the Saudi Minister of Commerce and Investment, Majid Al-Qasabi, on the sidelines of his official visit and the accompanying delegation to Saudi Arabia, to discuss exchanging views to enhance joint cooperation in the economic, trade and investment fields, in a way that serves the common interests between Iraq and Saudi Arabia." .
During the meeting, Al-Ghurairy stressed, according to the statement, "the Iraqi government's keenness to open new horizons for economic and trade cooperation and to develop intra-trade with the Saudi side."
He pointed out that "during the meeting, aspects of bilateral cooperation between the two countries were also reviewed, with an invitation to the Saudi side to actively participate in the upcoming Baghdad International Fair."
For his part, Al-Qasabi stressed "his country's keenness and support to strengthen cooperation with Iraq, and cooperation in the fields of economy, investment and trade."
According to the statement, "Minister Al-Ghurairy met on the sidelines of the visit with a group of Saudi businessmen and investors to learn about the Saudi experience in the field of investment and development of economic sectors while benefiting from the Kingdom's experience in the field of digital transformation."
