    The economic expert, Abd al-Rahman al-Mashhadani, commented on Russia's decision to terminate the Ukrainian grain export agreement, and the extent to which Iraq was affected by this decision.
    Al-Mashhadani said in a press interview, seen by Taqaddam, that "as soon as Russia announced the decision to end the grain agreement, the prices of grains in the global markets immediately rose."
    He added, "Iraq has approached the stage of self-sufficiency for the wheat crop this year, but the country needs to import less than one million tons of grain to fill any shortage in storage," noting that "Iraq usually (mixes) Australian or Canadian wheat with The quality is good and it is accepted by the local consumer.”
    Al-Mashhadani explained that “if Russia’s decision continues as the Ukrainian grain export agreement during the coming years, it may cast a shadow over Iraq,” suggesting that “the Russian decision is temporary and aims to put pressure on certain countries, in order to resolve the issue of the Russian-Ukrainian war and not to continue it.” .
    On Tuesday, Russia notified the United Nations, Turkey and Ukraine that it would not renew the landmark grain deal that allowed Ukraine to export grain across the Black Sea.
    Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said the deal had come to a "de facto" end.
    The agreement allowed cargo ships to pass through the Black Sea from the ports of Odessa, Chornomorsk and Yuzhny/Pevdin, but Moscow said it would return to the deal if its terms were met.
    International reactions followed successively on Russia's withdrawal from the Ukrainian grain export agreement, as Berlin described it as "bad news", while Washington considered it a "brutal act", while the United Nations said that millions "will pay the price" of the Russian decision.
