    [rtl]Baghdad - Iraq today:

The economist, Basem Jamil Antoine, has ruled out canceling the agreement to sell Iraqi oil to Jordan at a preferential price. This comes amid the widening deficit in the 2023 budget with the continued fluctuation of global oil prices.[/rtl]

[rtl]Antoine said in a press interview, "The process of selling Iraqi oil to Jordan is linked to political, regional and strategic positions, which necessitate Iraq to continue to apply them," pointing out that "Jordan is considered a strategic outlet for oil in the event of the completion of the Basra-Aqaba line project.”[/rtl]
[rtl]He added, “Cancellation of the agreement will provide additional financial returns, which may reduce the size of the deficit in the 2023 budget, but sometimes government agencies are forced to give some concessions to neighboring countries to open the door for import at the expense of Iraq's economic situation," noting that "the political side plays a role." Important in the agreement to export Iraqi oil to Jordan.[/rtl]
[rtl]On addressing the size of the deficit in the 2023 budget, Antoine stated that "the budget should be re-examined by the competent authorities in a more organized manner to reduce the deficit rate."[/rtl]
