    Economy News - Baghdad
Prime Minister Muhammad Shia al-Sudani affirmed, on Wednesday, the government's keenness to revitalize the tourism sector for the next stage, noting that one of the government's priorities is economic reform and dealing with the unilateral economy.
Al-Sudani's office stated in a statement, "Prime Minister Muhammad Shia'a Al-Sudani chaired a meeting that included the Minister of Culture, Tourism, Antiquities and Heritage, and the heads of the tourism, antiquities and heritage bodies and the advanced cadres in them."
During the meeting, according to the statement, "the reality of tourism in Iraq was reviewed and the most prominent problems and obstacles that prevent the development of this important sector, with all the ingredients for its success, whether in the field of religious tourism or other tourism fields."
Al-Sudani stressed "the importance of tourism and the need to promote it, because it represents a civilized perspective for the country, as well as its role in economic development, job creation, and its contribution to enhancing the national product, especially since one of the government's priorities is economic reform, addressing the unilateral economy, and diversifying it by activating vital sectors, including the tourism sector, which the government is keen to revitalize for the next stage, based on its government program."
Al-Sudani directed to "hold a continuous workshop that defines the objectives of the tourism sector in all its forms, and lists the requirements for its advancement." He also stressed "the importance of involving the private sector in the prepared tourism plans." He also directed the Tourism Authority to "work on developing the capabilities of specialized cadres in tourism, and keep abreast of the latest developments in this sector globally."
