    Participation with an effective and ambitious Iraqi delegation that reflects the needs, priorities and interests of Iraq on the subject of climate change in all meetings and side events of the Conference of the States Parties at its twenty-eighth session on climate change in Dubai COP28 – Dubai, the most important thing that was dealt with during the second meeting of the National Committee for Climate Change formed according to Diwani Order 23533 of 2023 issued by the Prime Minister’s Office, in the presence of the Chairman of the Parliamentary Health and Environment Committee, representatives of the UNDP, undersecretaries of the relevant ministries and all members of the committee today, Wednesday 2 6/7/2023 at the Ministry's headquarters.
    The Minister of Environment, Eng. Nizar Amidi, explained the most important axes that were discussed, including following up on the outcomes of the first meeting of the National Committee for Climate Change and discussing the latest developments regarding the preparations for a conference, pointing to the necessity of completing and preparing the permanent negotiating delegation for climate conferences and preparing all the requirements required in order to achieve the goals of participation in the conference.

    The Minister of Environment added that the conference, which is a global platform for discussing climate issues, aims to support the path of climate negotiations between countries of the world, unite efforts and find effective and fair solutions to reduce the effects of climate change and promote sustainable economic development.
    The ministries' candidates for the negotiating team were reviewed, and the estimated number of the participating Iraqi delegation from all sectors was reviewed, and a presentation was made by the United Nations Development Program of the work plan developed with the Ministry of Environment to prepare for the conference.
    The meeting was attended by the Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq to the United Arab Emirates, Mudhaffar Al-Jubouri, and a representative of the Environment Protection and Improvement Authority in the Kurdistan Region, via electronic television.
