    Today, Thursday, the Ministry of Environment confirmed the national initiative to subsidize energy, which will reduce waste and gas emissions and reduce consumption.
    The ministry stated in a statement, "The Minister of Environment, Nizar Amedi, chaired a meeting with the main team of the national initiative, which was held at the ministry's headquarters, in the presence of the head of the national initiative, Technical Agent, Jassem Al-Falahi, the initiative's rapporteur, Shaima Mazhar, representatives of the ministries of electricity, science and technology, and a number of general managers and consultants in the competent authorities." .
    During the meeting, the Minister of Environment stressed, according to the statement, that "the aim of launching the national initiative is to support energy sustainability through rationalization of consumption on the one hand and efficiency of consumption on the other hand, and to contribute to meeting Iraq's requirements of the framework agreement on climate, reducing emissions and preserving the environment as well as sustaining efficiency." energy and achieving sustainable development goals.
    For his part, the head of the National Initiative for Energy Support and Reduction of Emissions, Technical Undersecretary at the Ministry of Environment, Jassem Al-Falahi, explained that "the initiative aims to prepare and adopt a major five-year plan that represents the general framework of the initiative and executive plans for its axes." A number of parliamentary committees with more than 88 annual plans.
    And he indicated that "achieving the requirements of the initiative is through reducing waste, rationalizing energy consumption in the government and private sectors, and investing in renewable energy by 7,500 megawatts from 2023-2030," noting that "one of the goals of the national initiative is to reduce CO2 emissions by 1-2 percent with the national effort." And 15% with international support.
    Al-Falahi added, "The initiative aims to spread culture and awareness among employees and students in the field of energy and environment sustainability, and to start planting one million seedlings by governmental and non-governmental institutions throughout Iraq."
