The Ministry of Interior announced today, Friday, that the problem of issuing passports has been solved with the arrival of a large quantity of raw forms.
The Ministry stated, in a statement, that “After the tireless efforts of the Minister of Interior, Abdul Amir Al-Shammari, the Director General of Civil Status, Passports and Residence, Major General Nashat Al-Khafaji, announced the start of the countdown to solve the problem of delaying the issuance of passports, after large meals of raw passports arrived today, Friday, and will be delivered.” They are printed in Baghdad, and a plan has been drawn up to distribute raw, category A passports to the governorates, starting next week, and the process will continue until all passports pending issuance are printed.”
Major General Al-Khafaji said, “With regard to the electronic passport, the process of opening offices is continuing, and next week will witness the opening of the Anbar and Diwaniyah districts, and there is a plan to open other districts during the coming period as well in a number of governorates.”
He continued: “With regard to the issue of opening offices outside Iraq, the Civil Status, Passports and Residence Department opened offices in the State of Kuwait, the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, the Republic of Lebanon and the State of Qatar,” explaining that “there is a delegation from the Civil Status Department that left yesterday, Thursday, for the Turkish capital, Istanbul, to open an office there. “There are other delegations that will leave during the next few days to Malaysia, the United Arab Emirates and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.”
He stressed that "this year will witness a significant qualitative shift in the work of passports," declaring that "the middle of next month will witness the end of solving the problem of all problems in the process of issuing passports."
