[rtl]Secretary-General Haitham Al-Ghais said on Monday at an energy industry conference in Abu Dhabi that OPEC is optimistic about demand and believes that the lack of investment poses a risk to energy security. He stressed the importance of continuing investment in the oil and gas industry, and said that he believes that calls to stop investment in oil are counterproductive.
The Joint Ministerial Monitoring Committee between OPEC and its allies, including Russia within the OPEC Plus alliance, will hold a meeting on Wednesday. Sources told Reuters that the committee is unlikely to recommend amending the current oil production policy. Knowing that the committee can call for a full meeting of “OPEC Plus” if necessary.
