Today, Wednesday (October 4, 2023), the Legal Committee in the House of Representatives revealed the importance of the Statistics and Information Systems Law, which Parliament recently enacted.
Committee member, Representative Salem Al-Anbaki, said in an interview with “Baghdad Today” that “The Statistics and Information Systems Law is of great importance in the work of the Iraqi state, as it aims to unify information related to the activities of state institutions and the management and development of the national statistical system.”
He added, "This law will be a significantly positive factor in the issue of contributing to the implementation of the general census of population and housing, and there will be a special body (the Statistics and Information Systems Authority), linked to the Ministry of Planning, and it will have committees and branches in all Iraqi governorates."
Last Monday (October 2, 2023), the House of Representatives voted on the draft law on statistics and geographic information systems.
A statement by the Council, received by "Baghdad Today", stated that "the House of Representatives voted on the draft law on statistics and geographic information systems."
This draft law had been postponed twice previously, during the sessions last Saturday and Sunday.
On April 3, the House of Representatives completed the report and discussion of the draft law on statistics and geographic information systems.
