Launching the 6th meal for those covered by social care

The Minister of Labor and Social Affairs, Ahmed Al-Asadi, announced today, Monday, the launch of the sixth group of those covered by the social welfare program, which number about 90 thousand people, indicating that the total number of people covered by the program exceeded seven million and 300 thousand citizens.
Al-Asadi said during a press conference held in the ministry building, which “Al-Sabah” attended: “We announce the launch of the sixth meal for those covered by social protection benefits, who number 89,963 people, and this meal focused on groups that were more vulnerable than those applying via electronic application.”
He stated, “Among those included are 7,941 people with disabilities, special needs, and the elderly. Thus, the number of people with disabilities and the elderly covered by social protection benefits is 401,404 people, which is the highest number of coverage reached by this category in the Social Protection Authority.”
He added, “As for widows, divorcees, wives of missing and abandoned women, single girls, and families of prison inmates, their number has reached 13,960 women and families. Thus, the number of women covered by social protection benefits from all categories is 561,659 women and families.”
For his part, the head of the Social Welfare Authority, Ahmed Laibi Al-Moussawi, said in an interview with “Al-Sabah”: “What distinguishes this (sixth) meal is that it included the most vulnerable families, widows, orphans, divorced women, the elderly and the disabled, and this meal was distributed to all governorates and districts.” No judiciary was excluded from inclusion

He explained, “The number of people included in this meal in Baghdad is 18,000 families, and since the launch of the social welfare service and program by the current government in November 2022 until now, 104,818 citizens have been included in Baghdad and the governorates, and it is considered the largest number in the history of social welfare.” Stating that “there are two million families covered by social care, and the number as individuals has reached 7,349,324 individuals covered by social protection care, and they will receive monthly protection payments. The Ministry is currently preparing to launch the social care meal for next November, and there are several other meals that the Ministry will launch until...

Al-Mousawi pointed out, “With regard to the coming year 2024, other families will be added and included in care according to what is updated in the budget and the government program, which is what the ministry is now working on with the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers, and according to the new amounts that will be added to the budget.”
