Shafaq News/ An informed political source revealed, on Monday, two messages that Iraqi Prime Minister Muhammad Shia al-Sudani carried to the Iranian leadership, as he was visiting the capital, Tehran.
The visit comes the day after a visit by US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken to Baghdad, on Sunday, during which he met with Al-Sudani and discussed with him "the developments of the escalating events in the Gaza Strip and the emphasis on the need to contain the crisis and ensure that it does not expand."
The source told Shafaq News Agency, “The Sudanese visit to Tehran focuses on two files. The first conveyed real American warning messages to Iran, which were conveyed by US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken regarding Iran’s continued support for armed groups and pushing them to launch military operations against American targets and interests in Iraq and the region.”
He added, "The second file revolves around Prime Minister Muhammad Shia al-Sudani's request from the Iranian political and religious leadership to put pressure on some armed factions in Iraq in order not to escalate military action against the Americans, to prevent Washington from any military response to those attacks, which may make Iraq an arena." Fighting and expansion of the war throughout the region.
The US State Department revealed that Minister Blinken urged Al-Sudani to hold accountable those responsible for the ongoing attacks on American employees in Iraq and to fulfill Iraq’s obligations to protect all facilities that host American employees at the invitation of the Iraqi government, stressing that “the United States will defend its interests and individuals.”
