Today, Monday (November 20, 2023), Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani directed the rapid establishment of the fixed platform for importing gas.
The Prime Minister’s Media Office stated, in a statement received by “Baghdad Today,” that “Al-Sudani chaired a meeting during which discussions were continued regarding the establishment of the fixed platform for processing imported gas in Al-Faw port, which is considered one of the important strategic projects for Iraq, as it will contribute to diversifying the sources of operating gas.” For power stations in Iraq, the location of this project has been determined within the port area.”
Al-Sudani directed, “to form a specialized committee that will prepare an integrated vision that will be presented within two weeks, to advance the vital platform project.”
He stressed, "The government's determination to continue diversifying energy sources, in addition to adopting radical strategic solutions aimed at optimal investment of natural and associated gas, which the government has initiated, to achieve gas self-sufficiency during the next few years."
