    Economy News - Baghdad
Today, Thursday, the Ministry of Transport announced the reopening of the Al-Qaim-Haditha-Baiji-Baghdad railway line for transporting goods.
A statement from the Ministry’s media office, received by Al-Iqtisad News, stated that “Today, the Ministry reopened the Al-Qaim - Haditha - Baiji - Baghdad railway line for transporting goods and stone, which is considered one of the important lines,” explaining that “the line extends for a long distance starting from Al-Qaim district.” In the western region to Haditha district, then to Baiji in the eastern region, ending in Baghdad.
He added, "The line will be for transporting stone from Al-Qaim crushers to the cement factory, and to the governorates of Salah al-Din and Baghdad, and also for transporting goods between Baghdad and Al-Qaim."
He explained that "the reason this line was stopped was due to the terrorist events of ISIS, and it was restarted after it was maintained by the ministry's cadres," noting that "the General Company for Iraqi Railways is ready to transport goods through it."
