The head of the National Dialogue Front, Saleh al-Mutlaq, confirmed today, Wednesday, that international pressure on the Shiites and Kurds has included the Sunnis in the political process.
Al-Mutlaq said in a televised interview followed by Mawazine News: “The Sunnis withdrew from the process of writing the constitution because of their view that the members of the constitution-writing committee do not have any jurisprudence in writing it, nor are they legal experts, but rather politicians who came to write the constitution according to a political vision.”
He added, "Sheikh Issa is a Sunni legal man who participated in the process of writing the constitution, and a week later he was assassinated in the street, pointing out that the assassination took place after Sheikh Issa opposed the federal law and the naming of the components for the distribution of positions."
