    The Department of General Statistics in Jordan issued its monthly report on foreign trade in Jordan, which indicates an increase in the volume of Jordanian exports to Iraq.

    According to official figures, the value of Jordanian total exports during January 2024 amounted to 650 million Jordanian dinars (Jordanian dinar = 1.41 US dollars), of which national exports amounted to 593 million Jordanian dinars, and re-exports amounted to 57 million Jordanian dinars, and the value of imports amounted to 1,318 million Jordanian dinars during the same period.



    The report indicated that total exports increased during the month of January of 2024 by 2.7% compared to the same period in 2023, national exports by 1.2%, and re-exports by 21.3%.

    While imports decreased by (19.7%). Accordingly, the deficit in the trade balance decreased by (33.7%) during the month of January of 2024 compared to the same period in 2023. Accordingly,

    the deficit in the trade balance, which represents the difference between the value of total exports and the value of imports, amounted to (668) million Jordanian dinars. During the month of January of the year 2024, compared to (1,008) million Jordanian dinars in the corresponding period of the year 2023.

    As for the coverage of total exports of imports, it amounted to 49% during the month of January of the year 2024, compared to a rate of 39% during the same period. period from 2023, an improvement of 10 percentage points.

    In terms of the commodity composition of the most prominent exported commodities, clothing and related accessories, fertilizers, and pharmaceutical preparations all increased, while crude phosphate, precious jewellery, and raw potash decreased.

    As for imports, crude oil and its derivatives, mechanical tools, and electrical tools contributed to the decline in the value of imports, while vehicles and bicycles, precious jewellery, and pharmaceutical preparations all increased.

    As for the most prominent partners in foreign trade, the value of national exports to the countries of the Greater Arab Free Trade Area, including Iraq, the North American Free Trade Agreement countries, including the United States, and the European Union countries, including the Netherlands, has increased.

    While the value of national exports to non-Arab Asian countries, including India, decreased.

    As for imports, the value of imports from the Greater Arab Free Trade Area countries, including Saudi Arabia, the North American Free Trade Agreement countries, including the United States of America, the non-Arab Asian countries, including the People’s Republic of China, and the European Union countries, including Germany, decreased.
