Features of an Iraqi-Turkish agreement regarding the status of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party

Researchers in political and security affairs indicated that there is an agreement between the Iraqi and Turkish sides regarding Turkey’s intention to carry out a major military operation in northern Iraq to eliminate the Kurdistan Workers’ Party, and the matter will be discussed during the visit of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to Iraq after Eid al-Fitr.
Security analyst Moataz Mohi said, in an interview with Al-Sabah: The Iraqi and Turkish sides emphasized more than once to respect the borders and limit terrorist and other activity, indicating that it is an indication of the existence of an understanding and non-interference between the two parties because the Turkish side confirms that the Kurdistan Workers’ Party is an organization. It is a terrorist attack, and Iraq has now acknowledged this matter, and after many discussions, the matter will be in Iraq’s interest, which was confirmed by Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein.
He pointed out that there is a new vision to protect Iraqi cities, and the Turkish forces will have room to expand to fight the existing terrorist forces that threaten southern Turkey and areas in Sinjar and others, stressing that Iraq and Turkey agree on the military operation because the agreement that occurred and the reports that were raised after the results of the meetings support this aspect because the problem Iraq must end with these results.
Mohie pointed out that all the information says that Iraq will control the border areas in cooperation with the Turkish forces, especially since these forces are more powerful and capable through the technology they carry and through being stationed in these areas for a long time because the force of terrorism has expanded even inside Iraq and has begun to threaten the areas. The Iraqi-Iranian border has become present in areas close to Sulaymaniyah and elsewhere.
For his part, the expert in political affairs, Jassem Al-Gharabi, told Al-Sabah that Iraq today seeks to achieve its security and stability, and the Sudanese government has begun to develop security and has taken control of the situation of services, and there is something tangible on the ground, and the Prime Minister must put pressure on the political blocs in order to remove this. forces or help Turkey eliminate them.
He added that everyone knows that the problem of the Kurdistan Workers Party in northern Iraq is an intractable problem since the time of the previous regime, so the operations in northern Iraq indicate that there are disturbances and problems by this party and it is causing Turkey inconvenience in its internal situation, and this is its right, and the Iraqi constitution does not allow the presence of military forces that reduce From the security of the neighbors.
He stressed that the government today is required to find a solution to this problem, especially since Turkey is a political actor in regional and international politics and stipulated either water and the path of development or eliminating the Bakti or transferring them to another place, calling on the political actor to see where the interest of the Iraqi people is? And if there is no interest for the people There will be a big problem because the water is cut off, as is the development path.
