    The President of the Kurdistan Region, Nechirvan Barzani, renewed his demand that the federal government compensate the Faili Kurds “in all respects” in accordance with the decision of the Iraqi Supreme Criminal Court, which defined the crime of genocide to which they were subjected as a “crime of ethnic genocide.”[/size]
    [size=45]This came in a statement issued by the President of the Kurdistan Region, Nechirvan Barzani, on Thursday (April 4, 2024), on the occasion of the 44th genocide of the Faili Kurds.[/size]
    [size=45]On this occasion, Nechirvan Barzani called on the federal government to return the citizenship, money and property of the Faili Kurds and solve their problems.[/size]
    [size=45]He stressed that he will continue efforts in this direction and “we will cooperate in everything necessary in this regard.”[/size]
    [size=45]Below is the text of the statement:[/size]
    [size=45]“Today we mark the painful forty-fourth anniversary of the genocide of thousands of Faili Kurds who were subjected, through a brutal campaign, committed against them by the Iraqi regime at the time, to killing, arrest, displacement, absence, withdrawal of citizenship, and confiscation of money and property, just because they were Kurds who supported the Kurdistan Revolution.[/size]
    [size=45]On this anniversary, we affirm our demand that the Iraqi federal government compensate the Faili Kurds in all respects, in accordance with the decision of the Iraqi Supreme Criminal Court, which defined that crime as a crime of ethnic genocide, and to return to them their citizenship, money and property and solve their problems. We will always continue our efforts in this direction and we will cooperate in Everything necessary in this regard.[/size]
    [size=45]The genocide of the Faili Kurds and all the attempts at erasure and crimes committed against the people of Kurdistan are a black history and a bitter past full of mistakes in Iraq that brought woes and instability to the country. This past must become a lesson for all of us, and we can benefit from it in order to achieve a better future based on harmony, sharing, and acceptance of others in Iraq.[/size]
