    Economy News - Baghdad
Today, Wednesday, the Anbar Governorate Roads and Bridges Directorate reviewed the number of projects completed since 2016, while addressing future work.
The director of the department, Riyad Al-Obaidi, said: “The number of completed concrete bridges in Anbar Governorate that have been rehabilitated since 2016 has reached 70 bridges over rivers, valleys, and over train tracks. As for the new concrete bridges, 21 bridges have been constructed between Haditha and Al-Qaim on the Second Side Ramadi Road. Haditha - Al-Qaim, and the Wadi Hajlan concrete bridge was constructed in Haditha, as well as the Bzeibiz iron bridge on the Euphrates River.
He added, "As for the bridges under construction in Anbar Governorate, there are only one of them, which is the fourth Fallujah bridge on the Euphrates River, and the completion rates have reached advanced stages of about 60%."
He continued, "While the number of floating and iron bridges that have been reconstructed since 2016 until now has reached 19 bridges, they have contributed to reducing congestion, reducing traffic accidents, and reducing travel time, especially the bridges on the second side of the Ramadi-Haditha-Al-Qaim road. There is the Wadi Al-Ghadaf Bridge project on the 160 km road." Al-Nukhayb has been included in the maintenance plan for the Department of Roads and Bridges projects for the year 2023, and it is hoped that it will be announced soon.
Al-Obaidi continued, “With regard to roads, within the responsibility of the roads and bridges of Anbar Governorate outside the municipal borders, roads with a length of 802 km have been rehabilitated, the most prominent of which is the main road of Ramadi - Haditha - Al-Qaim, where the old side was rehabilitated and the second side was constructed, the remaining 37 km of which were transferred and were referred to Department of Roads and Bridges.
He stated, “The works also included the completion of the entire second side of the Ramadi to Al-Qaim road, with a width of 8.25 metres, a central island of 10 metres, and outer shoulders with a width of 3 metres, in addition to the intersections with cities, in addition to furnishing with planning and warning and guidance traffic signs, as well as rehabilitating the main road Ramadi - Fallujah along the length of the road.” 47 km, and the main road, Fallujah - Al-Karma, is 9 km long.
Al-Obaidi stated, “The Tigris Arm Road was also rehabilitated to become two sides with a length of 39 km, as well as the 160-km road - Al-Nukhayb, Al-Nukhayb - Arar and the Al-Nukhayb - Karbala road were rehabilitated. Among the qualified secondary roads are the Al-Budhiyab Al-Bouali Al-Jassim Dam, with a total length of 11.5 km, and the Al-Buaitha Sour Dam. Al-Bu Obaid Dam, Al-Bubali Dam in its first and second stages, Al-Bu Alwan Dam, and Al-Buhawi Dam, as well as secondary and rural roads in all districts of Anbar Governorate.
Regarding future roads, he explained that the Fallujah-Samarra road will be rehabilitated, as surveys and designs were prepared for it by the Department of Roads and Bridges last year, and it is hoped that it will be included in the plan of the Ministry of Construction and Housing soon. It is 35 km long within the administrative borders of Anbar Governorate to become two sides, and it is hoped that a side will be constructed. Second to the Al-Nukhayb - Arar and Al-Ramadi road, as this road is one of the main and important roads as it connects the governorate to the Arar border crossing to facilitate the transportation of pilgrims to the Holy House of God, as well as the transportation of commercial goods.”
