Today, Friday, the Ministry of Environment announced the intention to install radiation screening gates at border crossings.
Director General of the Radiation Protection Center, Sabah Al-Husseini, said: “There is a directive from the Prime Minister to install radiation screening gates at all land, sea and air border crossings. We have finally received the batch of these modern gates and we will begin installing them in Basra, and we will complete the deployment of all these gates at all border crossings.”
He added, "As of the beginning of next week, the installation of these gates will begin and we will continue to do so until we cover all the gates at all border crossings, which will verify everything that enters and monitor any contaminated object or carrying a radioactive source."
