The head of the National State Forces Alliance, Ammar al-Hakim, confirmed today, Thursday, that sectarianism in Iraq is not social but political.
His media office said in a statement received by Mawazine News, “Al-Hakim made a visit to Babil Governorate, during which he met with Governor Adnan Faihan and the local government.”
Al-Hakim explained “the nature of the changes in the Iraqi situation, including Iraq overcoming many challenges, including social challenges,” stressing that “sectarianism in Iraq is not social but political.”
He added, "The nature of the social fabric and its diversity is a guarantee for the preservation of society in terms of sectarian diversity within one clan," explaining that "Iraq has overcome these challenges in a short period, and has also overcome security challenges."
He pointed out that "politically, Iraq has passed the stages of political differences, the state of political blockages, and the inability to find solutions. This situation generated frustration and pessimism towards the future," indicating that "political differences exist, but what is different now is the ability to manage differences and the existence of controls for differences."
Al-Hakim pointed out “the importance of maintaining balance to maintain stability, and the need for the election results to reflect this equation,” praising “everyone’s efforts to contain the crisis of the 2021 election results, as they resort to peaceful issues in expressing opinions and searching for a solution.”
He continued, "Iraq in the eyes of others is different from the vision of Iraqis who are immersed in details. We confirmed that the countries of the region are willing to participate in the reconstruction and investment opportunities offered by Iraq, and we highlighted the importance of intertwining interests with the countries of the region and the world."
He pointed out "a development in the region's reading of the situation in Iraq, where the security of the region was a result of Iraq's confusion, while the correct reading now is that the security of the region is a part of Iraq's security."
Al-Hakim called for "to pay attention to Mr. Sudanese's visit to the United States of America and the interaction and interest it generated in the Iraqi situation, in addition to European and regional interest."
He stated, “Iraq has a clear position on supporting the Palestinian cause at the reference, governmental, and popular levels, and it is the focus of Iraqi consensus,” indicating that “the Israeli entity before the Al-Aqsa flood is not the same as after it, as the philosophy of the entity that marketed itself for more than seven decades for its oppression and false persecution fell, and we were martyred.” The position of American university students and their support and reading of the crisis in Palestine.
